Application Rules and Conditions – old
Here are the 2022 SoMo Borac Application Rules and Conditions. Please read them carefully.
Timeframe
The 2022 SoMo Borac is open to works and projects created and launched between the closing day for last year’s SoMo Borac applications (September 22, 2021) and the closing day for applications for this year’s edition of the SoMo Borac (October 18, 2022). If your project had been executed earlier than that, but the campaign was still going on during the said period, you can still submit it, provided it did not compete for the SoMo Borac awards earlier.
Who can participate in the 2022 SoMo Borac?
The 2022 SoMo Borac is open to entries from companies, startups, scaleups, digital publishers, agencies, gaming companies, individuals, and many others.
What is the application deadline?
The application submission deadline is October 18, 2022.
Campaign location
All the submitted projects must be intended for the regional market, except in the case of the SoMo Global category, where you can submit projects intended for any market out there.
Format
All applicants need to fill out the online application form and submit a video recording (link to YouTube or Vimeo) no more than three minutes in duration (a 720p or 1080p MP4 video).
What should (and shouldn’t) you include in your application?
The video needs to demonstrate the three elements of a digital campaign the jury panel will be evaluating: originality and creativity, execution quality, and results.
To allow the jury panel to evaluate all the entries fairly and objectively, the applications should not include the name (company, startup, agency,…) of the applicant.
If the submitted campaign is a part of a global campaign, the applicants should stress that and, at the same time, show how their localized campaign is different from the global one. Moreover, they should highlight the three elements of the campaign the jury panel will be evaluating: originality and creativity, execution quality, and results.
If you are submitting the same project to multiple categories, we recommend that you make separate videos, each stressing whatever is important for a particular category.
We also recommend that you submit your projects in English as the members of our jury panel come from different countries and don’t necessarily have the same level of proficiency in all the languages spoken in the region.
How and what will the jury panel evaluate?
In every category, apart from the SoMo Growth and SoMo Global categories, each score carries equal weight. As for the two categories, 70 percent of the score refers to the campaigns’ results or outcomes, while their originality and creativity, as well as execution quality, account for up to 15 percent of the score.
Regardless of the category, only the digital aspects of the campaigns will be evaluated (depending on the category). The applications can highlight the campaigns’ offline elements; however, they will have no bearing on the total score.
What does the jury process look like?
There are two rounds of the jury process: in the first round, the jury will select the finalists, and they will be announced no later than seven days prior to the award ceremony. The jury panel will pick five finalists in each category. The second round involves choosing the three finalists that will be presented with awards. Each category winner will get a large SoMo Borac statuette, while the two runners-up will be given smaller SoMo Borac statuettes.
How much is the application fee?
The SoMo Borac application fee will amount to EUR 150 per submitted work until October 4, 2022.
Afterwards, the SoMo Borac application fee will amount to EUR 170 per submitted work until October 18, 2022.
Every fifth application is free of charge.
Note: The organizer, with the consent of the jury panel, reserves the right to amend the competition’s terms and conditions.
CATEGORIES
- SoMo Social
Nowadays, any communication, whether permanent or campaign, inevitably contains an element of – social. The SoMo Social category highlights long-term social strategies and continued content coupled with communication with social media users. Since that is an always-on content, which requires constant production and attention, this particular category considers one’s performance over several months, at least.
- SoMo Content
These days, it is impossible to reach one’s audience without good-quality content. That is why the SoMo Content category rewards the best content marketing projects. Content projects may include newsletter strategies, video series, online magazines, blog posts, e-books, social media content, Tik Tok videos… and anything else that is considered to be content.
- DA – Digitalna Aktivacija
Quite often, we want to activate a target group on digital platforms, so we resort to a number of different ways. If your campaign’s primary goal was user activation, this is the category for you. Entries may include prize-winning games, influencer campaigns, and any other activation out there.
- Digital Mix
The best campaign on a single or multiple digital platforms will get its SoMo Borac Award in this particular category. The platforms include social media, Google, websites, and anything else we consider to be digital.
- SoMo Tech
This particular category has been created for all the digital works and projects that we haven’t seen on traditional platforms, as well as for mobile apps. The emphasis is on campaigns that have made the best use of the existing technologies and gone a step further in utilizing them.
- SoMo Web
In this exciting and fast-growing world of digital marketing, we are continually witnessing new solutions and experiments with innovations. And yet, the website has been a stable and constant force since the very beginning of digital marketing, and is often a campaign’s final destination. Regardless of whether it is a campaign-related, corporate, or e-commerce website, it will find its home in this particular category.
- CM Godine
Since the launch of the SoMo Borac Awards, we have been relying on this particular category to honor community managers, as they are the ones standing on the frontline of communication with the users, and moving from words to action. This is where agencies nominate their community managers in charge of one or more clients. They can be nominated by agencies, clients, or even themselves, in case they are freelancers.
- SoMoRitanac
The SoMoRitanac category rewards campaigns and projects that have raised the general public’s awareness about a burning global or local issue (for instance, helped a vulnerable or at-risk group, or contributed to solving a social issue).
- SoMo Global
The SoMo Global category is also intended for campaigns that have made the biggest contribution to one’s growth (of sales, visibility, or views). Seventy percent of an entry’s total score refers to that campaign’s results and outcomes; however, here, you can submit projects that have had results globally, i.e. on any of the markets outside the regional one.
