Presenting two more conference speakers: Francesco Cancellato and Nico Wüst
Francesco Cancellato is the Editor-in-Chief of Fanpage.it and holds a seat on the director board of the European Journalism Center. Between December 2014 and September 2019, he directed the online newspaper Linkiesta.it. Francesco has authored several books, including “Factor G. Why the Germans are Right” (UBE, 2016), “Neither Exploited nor Big Boys: Solving the Generational Question to Save Italy” (Egea, 2018), and “Il Muro: 15 Stories from the End of the Cold War” (Egea, 2019).
In his talk titled Fanpage and News in the Algorithm Era, Francesco will dive into the tumultuous landscape of today’s information era, discussing the future of journalism in the digital age. With the blurring of the lines between writers and readers, traditional business models are disrupted by emerging technologies. The swift spread of information, whether accurate or not, challenges our perceptions. Yet, with these challenges arise opportunities for a renewed and improved journalistic world—one that actively engages its communities, underscores its authority, and pioneers accessible content creation. Francesco will present the work of Fanpage.it, which balances innovation with integrity, and exemplifies a newspaper that remains accessible to all, without compromising its sustainable business model.
